Zach Brown knows that goodness in action heals people. That’s why he founded Camp Southern Ground in 2011. It’s hard to put into words exactly what camp is like. If you imagine a 400 acre campus with a state of the art facility that looks like it should be in Silicon Valley – you would be partially right. If you thought of a place where veterans are invited (at no expense to them) to work through challenges transitioning to the Civilian work force, you would be partially right. If you think a traditional camp that hosts special needs or at risk kids, you would be partially right. You would be 100% right if you imagined a group of men and women that are committed to helping other human beings flourish – and often at no expense to themselves. How do we make the world a better place? By serving each other and Jake Dukes joins Dave McCall to explain on the next QTS Experience.
About Our Guest:
JAKE DUKES
VICE PRESIDENT, STRATEGIC INITIATIVES
Jake joined the Camp Southern Ground team in March of 2018. He is a leadership coach, speaker and author who served for many years on executive teams of large churches focused on developing staff and overseeing campus operations. Now he uses his unique blend of business and ministry experience to develop future strategy for Camp Southern Ground and help facilitate a strong leadership culture among the staff. Jake brings his passion to every project and he’s not afraid to help teams break free from the rules they’ve inherited and push past the status quo. Jake lives in Senoia with his wife Jackie and four daughters.
About Camp Southern Ground:
Camp Southern Ground stretches across more than 400 acres of land in Fayetteville, Georgia, about 30 miles south of Atlanta. During summer months, we host kids ages 7-17 for week-long, inclusive, residential camps, bringing together typically developing children, children with neurodevelopmental differences, underserved kids, and kids from military families. The rest of the year is dedicated to supporting post-9/11 veterans with two programs. Warrior Week, Camp Southern Ground’s signature workforce and wellness transition program, helps veterans in the transition to civilian life after military service. Warrior PATHH (Progressive Alternative Training for Healing Heroes) aims to facilitate post-traumatic growth among combat veterans struggling with PTSD and/or combat stress. Provided at no cost to veterans, we welcome Warriors from across the country.
